About Collab

A home for creative facilitators

This website was established to cement project impact and advance professional facilitation practice through collaboration. The hub provides two core functions: a public-facing catalogue and a direct resource guide.

Project Catalogue

This flexible feature serves as a centralised archive dedicated to showcasing and celebrating the tangible, practice-based outcomes of our participants. It provides necessary public acknowledgement of their work, clearly demonstrating the results achieved through equitable, values-led community engagement. This section is also designed to function as your digital portfolio for future projects

Resource Hub

Our resource hub is a resource library built for reciprocity. It directly shares the modalities, tools, and external sources used throughout our work. It is designed for community-focused, creative facilitators seeking actionable, tested techniques. By sharing our learnings and frameworks, this hub ensures knowledge directly translates into practical tools for broader social change.

The COLLAB Organisation

COLLAB is a Brisbane-based community facilitation organisation grounded in creative co-design and community development. Our work is built on the belief that everyone brings valuable cultural knowledge, lived experience, and creative potential to community projects. Through our structured yet flexible methodology, we support people in working together, building confidence, and developing a strong sense of belonging through shared creative projects.

Our approach was initially tested through a PhD research project and has since expanded through ongoing collaborations across Brisbane. Since 2021, COLLAB has conducted four Brisbane Festival workshop series, two QUT workshop series, and a community project with the Inala Wangarra Community Centre.

The Inala Wangarra project culminated in a fashion show at the 2023 Inala NAIDOC celebrations, showcasing culture, creativity, and community pride. Each Brisbane Festival program has finished with a unique public event. In 2022, participants took part in a cabaret-style showcase featuring a beauty pageant to present their costumes. In 2023, the group hosted an exhibition opening and creative showcase. In 2024, the project grew into a large-scale catwalk event, with over seventy participants walking the runway in costume. In 2025, COLLAB delivered Fashioning Queer Identities, which culminated in the UNDERCURRENT exhibition.

Across all projects, our workshops focus on co-design, shared storytelling, and collective decision-making. Participants are supported in creating personal works, whether through costume-making, artworks, or creative projects, all within a collaborative framework.
